Re: Scorched earth Windows installs
Sorry, machine is not compatible with Win11. I have a computer I built about six years ago that, according to Microsoft, was not compatible with Windows 11. I updated the BIOS which apparently made it compatible and Microsoft immediately wanted to upgrade it which, for better or for worse, is what ...

Re: Home Cloud Storage
I'm considering the DS223J 2bay unit with two Seagate Ironwolf drives. I have this same device and drives at home, configured for RAID 1. A common share is mapped to a drive letter on each Windows computer. That share is backed up nightly by IDrive. We (wife and I) only use it locally and don't use...

One of the dangers of subscription services. Want continued access to your data? Pay us more.We are rebalancing the price of Autodesk Fusion to represent the value it delivers. Effective January 30, 2024, the annual subscription price will increase to $680," up 40% from the current $490/yr.

Re: why so many solidworks users ??
Expanding on RichGergely's comment: This is from my foggy memory. Anyone knows better, please correct me. In the 90's a seat of Pro/Engineer cost around $15k to get started and then there were extra costs for other modules. I don't remember if Pro-E ran on windows at that time. I only ever used it o...

Re: SW2022 SP5.0 Performance Pipeline Question
Thanks. I thought that might be the case. Maybe a programmer didn't catch all the instances when doing a find/replace.

SW2022 SP5.0 Performance Pipeline Question
I have the following notification in the lower right corner of the SolidWorks window. PERFORMANCE_PIPELINE.jpg I'm not finding an option to "Enable performance pipeline" under Options > Performance. Is this setting found somewhere other than Options>Performance? Maybe I'm looking right at ...

Re: SOLIDWORKS Business Model Changes Coming in July 2023 - here we go again!!
It is true that subscription based software is being forced on users from many directions. I suppose there are some cases where software subscriptions make sense for some uses. However, I can't think of a use case at the moment. If software subscriptions were beneficial to users then the software co...

Re: SOLIDWORKS Business Model Changes Coming in July 2023 - here we go again!!
"uplift in price" is one of the most insulting euphemisms I've seen. I retired in July of last year and maintenance on my personal license expired in May of this year. I didn't renew. I still use SolidWorks for personal projects. It appears that the march to eliminate the perpetual license...

Re: Solidworks 2023 SP0.1 is available
I did do an upgrade. If I reinstall 2023 at some later date I'll check that path.
Moving default file locations to my server sounds like a good idea.

Re: Solidworks 2023 SP0.1 is available
Thanks for the link. I remember this same issue a few releases back and note that the date on the blog is 2015. I uninstalled 2023 and went back to 2022 SP5.0. Didn't have the desire to start troubleshooting this issue and I expect other issues will appear. At least I'm familiar with the quirks of t...

Re: WANTED: CADKEY 20+
I used CADKEY back in the early 2000's before I purchased SolidWorks. I don't remember the last version of CADKEY I used but If I still had the disks I would let you have them. There are a couple of companies that I did consulting work for that wanted to bring their CAD in house. They balked at the ...

Re: Solidworks 2023 SP0.1 is available
I upgraded to 2023 SP1.0.
Opened an existing part, started a new drawing of that part. The first circular cutout I selected with the smart dimension tool placed the text "<MOD-DIAM>" instead of the diameter symbol (circle with a slash through it).

Re: 2D CAD drafting vs 3D CAD modelling, what do you think?
The original post looks more like an advertisement and a way to get visibility to a product on this forum without being labeled as spam. I've seen this technique used quite a bit on the PCB design forum I frequent.

Or do you mean the display size?
I've done quite a bit of searching for this issue. I didn't find a lot of complaints about it. Could be my eyeglasses are wearing out.

Re: Sketch Constraint Size
I would add a picture, but I am getting the HTTP error again ( @matt ) when I try to add it (either by copying and pasting it in, or by trying to manually add it as an attachment) When I added that picture in my original post I started by dragging it into the edit window. Then I selected "inli...

Re: Sketch Constraint Size
In the monitors section of the Windows settings, you can set a percentage to make interface elements larger, like 125%. Does that change the icon size? Thanks for the suggestion. My current setting is 175%. I increased that to 300%, restarted SolidWorks and saw no effect (other than great big deskt...

Sketch Constraint Size
Is there a setting to increase the size of the constraint flags in sketches on high resolution monitors? My monitor resolution is 3840 x 2160 (Recommended) and I find that the constraints are difficult for me to resolve. I'm currently using SolidWorks 2022 SP1 on Windows 10 but I've been struggling ...
