Re: How to SEPERATE multi-body bodies into standalone parts?

Quick tip: image.png If you utilize the "keep bodies" selection and then only select he body you want to keep, then no matter how many new bodies you add to the master file, you wont have to go back to your new part and update the number of bodies to delete. good to know. thanks I'll prob...

Re: How to SEPERATE multi-body bodies into standalone parts?

OK, i do this kind of thing all the time. I have found that the best way to bring a body into another part is to use the "pull" method and open a new part and then use "insert->part". The reason for this is that it is the ONLY way that you can get hole wizard information to pass...

Re: auto filling table help

I've not used design table. i'll hit the google and see about it thanks and good assumption, but Paul is my last name! ;-) Paul (I assume) It sounds as if you want a Design Table, which does what you describe. Do you want advice on doing a Design Table, or do you already know about Design Tables and...

Re: auto filling table help

what I want is to drop a single view of either the "generic/defaul" part or even one of the configurations as reference but then be able to built and populate the table with the configurations. similarly to how a BOM gets built when you select which configurations you want to include in yo...

Re: Solidworks Mouse Gestures - Implemented Correctly?

I'll state up front that I don't use many mouse gestures. mostly I just use it for orienting a model or assembly to the top view. I have arrow keys set up to rotate my model 90 degrees so I just get it to one view and then rotate manually. why? because I've done this for 20 years. before mouse gestu...

HDS wrote: Mon May 02, 2022 11:06 am If the model looks just like the one in the earlier post you can draft the rounds.

If there is an additional round on the top face you can not.
maybe I'm missing the earlier post then but a simple cylinder with a radius at the base cannot be drafted.

Re: When to fillet

In summary, Extrude --> draft --> fillet is most prefered desgn for maximum editability. This results in identical fillet radius on the top and bottom faces. For tool maker, however, I believe not so convinient to mill this mold? Left one is the prefered Extrude--Draft--Fillet. Right one is Extrude...

Re: When to fillet

The result is only different if you draft in the extrude feature. If you extrude, round, then draft it is the same. However, without the issues with a fillet in the sketch. I am not sure it matters for injection molded parts as long as you follow the other rules about wall thickness ect. You can as...
