Re: Lofted Bend/Fold/Unfold Is it Me or SW creating an error
I design conical sheet metals quite much and I never unfold it. I make holes and cuts in bent state so they will be normal cut. That half cone your image shows I would do as follows: 1. Make the the cone with lofted bend 2. Hole wizard holes, 3 pcs 3. Circular pattern then holes Why? Because the hol...

Re: Standard Parts Library: Configurations or Individual Parts?
Absolutely you should use configurations. Someone said that library parts doesn't change, but their background data definately will change at some point and in that case you want to be able to maintain your files. You don't want to push changes to hundreds or thousands different part files, instead ...

Re: SOLIDWORKS 2023 confirmed bugs
We just updated from sw22sp5 to sw23sp5 and faced first annoying issue: If drawing view has tangent edges hidden, it's impossible to dimension structural members. When you switch to tangent edges with font, you can dimension. Anyone else has this same behaviour? image.png EDIT: Found fix SPR1254289 ...

Ahh.. Interesting. I see. The image is the key to deciphering the requirement. Makes sense. You developed this code and process.? Well, this is kinda clever I'll admit. And I don't hate it. I'll be honest tho, I'm not sure I can agree with your statement of "Idiot-proof". (Even if out of ...

Re: Weldment cut angle and direction
Have you ever been able to send this kind of info to the saw operators previously without a drawing.? Why would you want to.? Yes I'm able to give this cutting info to saw operator, see my post above. Reason for this is that it reduces production time significantly when operator doesn't need to rea...

Re: Weldment cut angle and direction
One can customise the cutlist table to include angle dimensions. This is a simple matter. But this is useless when trying to determine which face of RHS is to be the mitre cut face or the 90deg face. (think NOT square tube. Is the mitre on the long or short face.?) Nor is it any good at all when tr...

Re: Weldment cut angle and direction
I don't know of any way to do it with just the cut list. My cut lists don't even have the column for angle. If the body isn't detailed it's assumed both ends are 90° and they have no holes or other cuts. If that's not the case then I show a drawing view of the body and add dimensions as appropriate...

Re: Replace feature with pattern and preserve mates?
Thanks for answer Gupta9665. I gave name to all faces and edges, created copy of the part, replaced cut-extrudes with hole-wizard holes and gave same names to those faces and edges as in original cut-extrude. When I replaced the original part in assembly with the copy, all mates to edges remained co...

Replace feature with pattern and preserve mates?
Hey, I think this is not possible but I have to ask anyways... I want to replace these cut-extruded holes with hole-wizard holes to be able to use pattern-driven-component-pattern in assemblies. Problem is that the part is used VERY much in previous projects and will destroy all mates. Is there any ...

Thank you all for responses. This is EXACTLY how we do it with CustomTools so I'm sure it isn't that hard to accomplish. Hello, Our company has a convert task in workflow. More specific, we convert drawings to pdf, dwg and dxf files. Dxf only when there is a sheet named "dxf". What is grinding my gears here is that when we accept the drawing, it runs all those mentioned 3 tasks. Everytime task runs, it opens...

My guess is you would like to select the "highest" level of the component in the feature tree? What i normally do is using breadcrumb, the workflow is something like below: 1. Select the face of the part i want to copy 2. Press D to activate breadcrumb, select the appropriate level 3. Sel...

In some cases, fully defined sketch tool may help, but that really subjected to how complicated your sketch is... You can turn off relation so that it only add dimension which make it slightly easier to figure out where is the undefined points https://help.solidworks.com/2019/english/SolidWorks/sld...
