Re: CATIA Forum

Thanks!

Alot of the users that came over from the SolidWorks forums know a bit about me. But, I can share.

CATIA Forum

I am a proficient SolidWorks SWPDM User/Admin. However, I've recently gone over to 3dexperience / Catia 19x.

There isn't a Catia Forum here. Is it worth someone creating it one?

Re: Toolbox & Custom Hardware

What I'm looking for is something like being able to add a pneumatic fitting or special bearing or something we use all the time that is nothing like a fastener that currently exists in the TB. I've not seen an easy way to do that or even a really good way to do it. That's fair, it's not when it co...

Re: Toolbox & Custom Hardware

I'd be curious as to how you're doing this. I've been asking around and looking around for a couple years, forums, VAR's etc and no one has come up with an "Easy" way to add new parts to the tool box that I've been able to find. Unless you're talking "Specials" in the sense of c...

Has the balloon with exploded views issue been resolved with this SP4.0?

Re: Toolbox & Custom Hardware

TB is very powerful. It has a library that is detailed and works. Customizing the toolbox to have specials is easy yet requires detailed attention. Customizing the toolbox with using PDM is also easy and also requires detailed attention. Using the TB requires attention to detail, just as users shoul...

I got a headache trying to figure out how to inspect circular runout from a round surface but not use its axis. Not my work - someone else's. lol

Re: Watercooler Talk

Anyone have any insight on how a round object, just like a DVD, which has an OD as the Primary Datum could have that primary datum used to inspect circular runout called out for one of its surfaces, while the referenced primary datum is specifically " not used to be the axis" and is specif...

Re: SolidWorks 2021 Stable?

It's worked pretty well for me, though I did run into the issue with exploded views (it's not just balloons, see https://www.cadforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=409&p=4696&hilit=exploded#p4696 ). The balloon problem is 100% a show stopper for 2021 and where I drew the line and let our orga...

Re: SolidWorks 2021 Stable?

I've been reading these, "is version 1234 stable?" topics for a couple of years. One thing I see is some say, "Yeah, all good, no problems." others say "nothing but problems, new bugs and the old fixes didn't apply to problems we were having." I think what we're missin...

Not wanting to do that work around. We have a ten pounds of parts in a 1 pound box.

mike miller wrote: Thu Apr 22, 2021 5:48 pm 2021 has a known bug with attaching balloons to exploded views (SPR 1211277). The workaround is to collapse the view, attach balloons and then re-explode the view.
Hold on. Then how does one ever attach items that aren't visible on the outside of the assembly (without great effort)?

Re: Exploded View Issues

I have had the same problem attaching annotations to exploded views. One thing that sometimes solved the issue was to go into the assembly with the exploded view and make sure perspective was turned off. Save the assembly, and re-insert the exploded view to the drawing. Did anyone else corroborate ...

Re: Parasolid file imported as inches instead of mm

As I recall all files brought into SolidWorks will use the default template settings for a standard SolidWorks file.

.step, .x_t, etc, files opened in SolidWorks will present entirely as a .sld*** file template and use whichever specified template measurement.

Only about half a dozen major bugs, plus a lot more "minor" ones in the attached list. I'm still on SP1 because the only way to install service packs is to do a complete uninstall and re-install for some stupid reason. o[ -Balloons and exploded views simply don't get along. Attaching to e...

SolidWorks 2021 Stable?

It's great to see so many old SW User forum faces and users on here. First post on this forum for me. It'd been a while. SWIFT!

We're looking to upgrade to 2021 from 2018. Anyone notice any glaring gotchas to note?

Thanks in advance y'all!
