How to refresh the gauge table - is it possible?

If I use a gauge table for a sheet metal part and I change the gauge table it does not automatically update the part. Why?


If I change the thickness i.e. in the gauge table it seems that there is no way that SolidWorks detects this change automatically.

sometimes if I 'override thickness' i.e. it seems to reload the gauge table
sometimes if I change the bend radius it seems to reload the gauge table

Is there a pattern to it? Can I force a re-load with a macro?


Now we have this beautiful ability to link the material to a gauge table - but it does not update it O_o.

The only way I know to update a gauge table is to edit the "sheet metal" feature > deselect the "Use Gauge Table" option and then reselect it along with the correct gauge table from the drop down and the correct parameters.

Edit to add: Honestly I would not want it to automatically update b/c then you have no control over the model. But I do wish it would identify an update and ask if you want to update.

I believe the reason it doesn't automatically update is b/c a copy of the gauge table is actually embedded in the file.

I see. For me it seems to work if I select 'override thickness' and then deselect it again. But still - there is not other way?

I like the way Solid Edge does it.
Solid Edge does not embed a gauge table in the file.
Then if you make a change this notification shows.

And if you open the gauge properties dialogue you can see exactly which values (the fields in yellow) are not matching the gauge table and there is a "refresh" button that will update the field based on the gauge table.

Try being the CAD Admin when switching from SE (files on SAN) to SW (files in PDM). Talk about real pain.

You can reload your table by selecting another and then reselecting the original table without leaving the Sheet Metal PM.

Select another gauge table (if available, it doesn't matter which).
Click Yes to this dialog:

The newly selected table is loaded and the current table is removed.
While still in the Sheet Metal PM, select your original table (which has has the latest edits).
Click Yes to the same dialog and your original table, with its edited data, is loaded.
Click the Sheet Metal PM green check.

I just tried it, it works.
But automating this is too much of a pain, I think. Plus I only see changes if I actively open that feature...
