Change translucency Hidden line removed

Unread post by Bryan O »

I'm sure there is an answer but it's quicker to ask....
I'm doing a drawing of a TABLE (4 legs and a surface)
In the top view I would like to see the surface translucent so that I can see the legs under the table.
I know I can change "Change transparency" of the part in the model and then make the view "Shaded with Edges" to match but that shades all the other parts.
Is there a way (in the drawing) to "Change transparency" of the part while keeping the view "hidden with Edges"

I would like "Hidden Edges Removed" as that has no shading.

Is this table an Assembly, or a multi-body Part?

You could create a display state in the model and set the table top part to wireframe. Then show that Display State in the drawing view.

Got it!
It is a combination of creating a Display State where the assembly is in "Shaded with Edges" and then the "Component Display" of the components are changed to "Wireframe" and "Hidden Lines Removed". The drawing view then uses the new Display State which is actually "Shaded with Edges".

Thank you. It makes sense now.

Actually in that second pic, I just did a standard Hidden Line Removed view. Then right click the legs and show hidden edges. No special Display State needed in that case.
