If you're looking for that extra little edge in surfacing where some of the tools, while great, fall a little short sometimes check out X-Nurbs. It's a gold partner so it runs inside of Solidworks. In so many ways the surfacing features have really not changed or had anything new added in over 10+ years and it many ways is still really good but also starting to feel dated IMO. Not that this plug-in solves all of what needs to be added with regards to new features for Solidworks.
I mean if you can get your hands on Matt Lombard's Solidworks Surfacing Bible which was made well over a decade ago you'd still be able to follow 90% of what he's showing with regards to methods to surfacing. Maybe that's me tipping my hat to Matt's very well written book but I'd also say that it shows just where Solidworks is in terms of what they think they're surfacing feature are capable of.
That said, even though it's a video showing in Rhino it is available for Solidworks as well.
