Use this space to ask how to do whatever you're trying to use SolidWorks to do.

How do I deal with / get rid of this little "goblet" icon next to my mouse? Student SW 2019

Unread post by Ballfreak10 »

EDIT: The next day the problem was resolved by simply restarting SW...

Hi all,

So I've been using 2019 Student SW for probably eight or so months now, and this issue popped up seemingly out of nowhere...

A little pink goblet-looking icon appeared next to my mouse (screenshot below!), and since then, I've been unable to select anything in the visual workspace, and have therefore of course been unable to do much of anything.

Does anyone know how to handle this, or get rid of it?

All help is appreciated :)!

Thanks in advance,

I don't see your mouse pointer in the screen shot. (many screen shot tools specifically remove the mouse pointer).

Can you try something different? Greenshot has an option to include the mouse pointer.

It's a selection filter. Press F6 to clear it.

Yup, often triggered by V or X

That's a filter for vertices or faces. If you hit F5, it will bring up the filters toolbar. V or X again will turn off the individual filter. Maybe you want to redirect those hotkeys.

Nonono, I love them and love using them when required, it's just I've had the question asked by my co-workers so often that I eventually figured out that it's not an issue with SolidWorks but an issue with people pressing keys unintentionally, so I figured I'd point out the 2 most notable keys.
