Moving sketch in Asssembly feature tree

Unread post by TTevolve »

So I have an assembly that has around 100 parts in it. I need to create a sub-assembly out of some of the parts and want to add a master sketch to control some mates. I created the sketch but I can not drag it to the top of the feature tree because it say it would put the child before the parent, but even when I empty the skecth it still will not move it in the tree. Has anyone else had this happen?

The only parent/child relationship is tot he main assembly right plane

In SW23 I get the same message all the way up the tree apart from positioning it directly under the Origin. Are you trying to drop the sketch somewhere arbitrary in the tree?

I was trying to drop it in with my planes that I am using to define the sketch.

So it appears you have to drop it on origin. Then you can move it to other locations. Thanks Dave
