Reoccurring SW 3DExperience login popup
Reoccurring SW 3DExperience login popup
Wondering why I suddenly am getting this login popup every time I open SW? I entered my credentials which it accepted, thinking maybe a one-time behind the scenes update requirement. But it still asks me. Now I want it to go away permanently. Any advice?
Re: Reoccurring SW 3DExperience login popup
Forgot to mention - today when I think this behavior this started occurring, I noticed a little red dot over the home icon. Its gone now, presumably because I'm logged in? So do I just log out & that's the end of it, or will it always nag is my question

Do you have either of these add-ins turned on?

Ah, good thought. But no, just 3D connection. I don't recall changing any SW settings recently. I think there were relatively recent Chrome and/or Win-10 updates, but off the top thought was well before this issue came about opening SW (v2024 SP2.0)

Hrm, that's odd, generally it's from the add-ons, but perhaps the right "home" bar is the one that is causing the prompt..?
Re: Reoccurring SW 3DExperience login popup
Contacted my VAR, here is the summary:
- since it was confirmed 3DExperience already un-toggled within SW, uninstalled the 3DExperience Marketplace app. Login popup still occurs.
- then tried un-installing 3D Experience Exchange app. Login popup still occurs.
- then (a multi-step process that had me chewing my fingers) copied my current SW registry for safe keeping, ran a new registry (provided), creates a ‘SW_Login_Disable’ registry key with value set to ‘True’. And that seems to have done the trick, no more popup.
- I now get a blank SW screen whereas before it was showing kind a mini window with panes of recent models. Maybe that was related to the 3DE cloud interface? Anyway I'm fine with the cleaner look because if I ever moved files around (legitimately using right-click SW command within Explorer) the little preview dashboard could get itself out of synch indicating kind of a missing file icon, so I had to delete those previews anyway.
I hope this works. I inquired how or why it came about. Response: This window will pop up automatically if you have used the 3DExperience platform or other related program. I find that it is quite common in most SOLIDWORKS installations and cannot be ignored. I suspect that using the 3DExperience Exchange or Marketplace applications may have caused this to appear.
