Maker Version
Maker Version
Has anyone got the SolidWorks Maker version? I was thinking of getting it but it is a pretty long application form that seems to assume I'm a startup.

If you don't mind having the student marking on your files, you can get a free copy of SW Student by joining the Experimental Aircraft Association. I think it's only $40/year. Here's a link to the SW info https://www.eaa.org/eaa/eaa-membership/ ... rce-center
Re: Maker Version
@jcpriotti, it looks like the student version of SW. This is just for home experimentation so that is fine.
@Mattpeneguy , reading though it again, I think I misunderstood and that they are providing it though organizations (like EAA that you mentioned). I have a Fablab near me that I can check out.

Re: Maker Version
I just signed up for it. Does anyone know what exactly it is - is it Xdesign (SW in the Cloud)?
Well, I'd be interested to see when it comes later this year.

Re: Maker Version
From the links that others provided, it is named "3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS for Makers". This shows me that it is not desktop SolidWorks. This is 3DX Solidworks, ad it Swyms in the cloud. To me, it follows that there is a list of about 2 dozen desktop features unavailable for 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS for Makers. I saw that list in the overly long and rambling, "Is this forum moving?" thread in the old forum. It was also past the data capture date, so I don't expect that list to be carried over into the archival imports.
Confusing names confuse customers. Abbreviations or vernacular names confuse even more so. I wonder how many customers bought the wrong product.
Re: Maker Version
Just had a look at the link. It says 3D Experience SolidWorks for Makers but then the form asks for Professional Email, Company & Job Description as required fields?
