Description in BOM not working SW2020

Hi Guys

I've got some multi-sheet drawings - one sheet per config.

The drawing is of a part, so there is only one item per BOM - it is just a convenient way to display the properties.

I am using the Copy Sheet Paste method to produce all the sheets.

The problem I am having is that whilst all the other properties update, the description stubbornly refers to the configuration in which the BOM was created.

All of the other notes and properties in the title block update - it's just the BOM description that is causing a problem.

I've checked the properties in the part are good and If I manually add a new BOM it works, but changing the referenced config doesn't seem to work with copy/paste.

Has anyone experienced this / got this to work?

I'm using a macro to automate the process - and the funny thing is on one set of drawings it works fine and another set is hit and miss.

I have updated both my drawing & BOM template to 2020, so I don't think its a crusty template gotcha

select the BOM,
in the feature-tree of the BOM,
expand "configuration"
switch to the correct one...

you may enjoy a little of the "Bugidworks" effect when doing this...

A quick way is to delete the BOM and then Select A View on the page and re-insert the BOM

From my understanding your macro is missing the process of switching the configuration inside the BOM.

The thing is I am updating the configuration - the other properties update - just not the description.

I've rewritten the macro to insert a BOM - Johns answer
