Balloons breaking links and not able to reattach

Let me start with that we upgraded from 2020 sp3 to 2021 sp4 before the issue happened.

If i bom and auto balloon a drawing, then move the balloon leader to a different place on the part it shows a "?". If i move the leader off the part and then try and move it back, it won't attach. This also happens when i manually create a balloon except no leader pops up. This doesn't happen on every balloon but only some.

i saw a post about this in older versions and it said that while creating the explo view, perspective view was on and that i needed to recreate the explo and start over. that didn't work and I never have perspective view on.

I thought this was a something wrong with one document but now its happened to 3 explo views now.

I only saw this post from cad forum but i swear i had seen another one while i was looking the past 2 days

A few years back I was having trouble with an exploded view. I had a rotated view and I couldn't grab the parts to further move them. I worked with my VAR and one of the things that came out of the discussion was that you should always try to use the default isometric view only to create your exploded view. I don't remember the exact reason, but it works best that way and I've been doing it that way and haven't had the problem since.

ya i tried it but doesn't work. That sounds really annoying to always use the iso view. how many parts are in your bom and do you have the parts overlap at all? that would make for a really crazy big exploded view, right?

Here's another thread discussing the same problem. https://www.cadforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=409

Currently, the best workaround is still the one mentioned in that thread: collapsing the view, ballooning, and switching back to exploded. Make sure to bite your tongue at 0.1 lbf between the left canine and first molar.

We all deal with it, if that helps. Misery enjoys company.....

I saw a problem like this before, but we were able to reattach and manually update the balloons till the file got opened again. The guy attached the balloons to center lines and that would make them go crazy.
Another thing to make sure of is that the view properties are going to the bom.
