Is it possible to add a part that cannot be clicked on in a drawing view to a stacked balloon ("add to stack")?

A likely example of when this would come into play is a nut and bolt, with the nut being behind a panel that is blocking its own selection.

How is this done?

You can expand that view in the feature tree and select from there.

The answer from Deepak will of course work, but another method that I've used occasionally is to make the view "Hidden Lines Visible," click on the component to insert the balloon, then switch the view type back. That may be easier than finding it in the tree.

Hey Glenn,

I tried that as well. It worked, but when I then tried to add additional leaders to the same balloon stack to point to identical component sets, they turned mustard (broken).

When picking from the Feature Tree you need to pick the parts Origin for it to be picked up.

Would that also work for an item like, teflon tape, grease or locktite that is on the bom but does not have geometry?

Yes, I do this all the time. Each of the consumables like grease just have an empty part model that gets dropped in to the assembly tree, and then you can pick that origin for balloons.

Why not use "Select Other" and select whatever it is you desire?

For empty parts, you need to select from the featuremanager.

to add a 'dummy' or 'phantom' part I followed the instructions on this link.

This works but like all things in SWX it is extremely touchy. I often need to try 3x before it works
