Forum Feature Requests

Unread post by DennisD »

Matt,
You are doing a fantastic job with this forum. We are all grateful you set it up and impressed with how you have responded to suggestions. I would like to add one. Could you make the Private Messages automatically forward to the email in the person's profile? Yesterday I sent a PM to you and a few others. I received replies from two of the members. I suspect you have been too busy to reply and that perhaps the other just hasn't seen that he has a message waiting for him. The Jive forum had this setting, that a message to a user was forwarded to their email without revealing their email address. I think this is a good approach as it assures the message is seen and yet it protects the recipients' email from being exposed.

Thanks for considering this.

Thanks, @DennisD ! I'll see what I can do about that. I should also post a public "to do" list so you all can see what's in progress.

And about the other thing, I didn't respond immediately because I needed to think about it. And then I got involved in other stuff. I'll try to make it back to that message, and respond.

When you get the to do list established, don't forget to implement a progress bar...No need to reinvent one, just use this one (I think I suggested it elsewhere, should work here too):

Any ideas you don't/can't implement just move them to "Submitted to R&D". Seems to be working well elsewhere...

Missing a few states "Rejected", "Cancelled", "Submitted to 3DSWYM"

@matt

Is there an extension that lets GIF's play inline? (You know, like the old site. :))

Is it possible to have a pasted link to another thread show more information?

There's an add-on, I believe, that will convert links to the metadata title(I might be wrong on the name), so for instance if I were to link this thread, it wouldn't show a link, it would show a text with "Forum Feature Requests". Is that what you'd like to see?

Yes, please. I know I've seen it on other forums, but I don't know what platform they were hosted on.
