What controls default front view initial shade darkness?

I've noticed when initially drawing on the front face of a part, the surface color is quite dark grey. To the extent my dimensions are less visible so I'm always toggling wireframe view. But when I sketch on any other part surface, its lighter. What's weird is if I sketch on the front face a second+ time, its then similarly lighter. These are using newly made part templates for SW2024 but I cant seem to find the shading? parameter that controls this. (At this stage the material is default undefined & my background scene is 3 point faded (default). Not a biggy but just wondering.

See if this does what you want. Under "Display Manager", select the "Scene, Lights, and Cameras" sub-tab. Right click "Ambient" and edit it's value. I find the default value from SW to be too dark, so I have it set to 75% in my part and assembly templates.

What @SPerman suggested will probably help. Changing the default model color in your Part template might be another option.

Although, I see quite a lot when you delete/suppress a hole or add/unsuppress a hole, the shading on a specific surface will change. Almost as if the lighting slightly changed. It is subtle and hard to see, but it does change.

Its almost like the lighting is rebuilt along with the rest of the part, and the software just comes to a slightly different conclusion.

Hmm, could it be this easy? I just noticed that for whatever reason my new Part template had 3 point faded as the default. Maybe that originated from the SW24 download templates. But when I selected Plain White, the part was that more pleasing pale blue color & +/- remained that way when I sketched on the part front plane vs. that darkish grey. Now I just have to decide if I like Plain White. I'll fiddle with those other parameters when I have some time, thanks for suggesting. I rarely go into these settings & I probably should be more familiar. Never know when I want to place my shiny metal object on a cobblestone road haha
