I have a custom task I created that I have been trying to run on the 1st of the month. Since monthly isn't on the standard scheduling options I have been using the advanced scheduling option. I would select the 1st of the next occurring month and then set the repeat to Monthly. However, when using monthly in this way it seems to set the interval in days based on the number of days in the month when the first occurrence will run. For instance the last time I updated the schedule I set it to run on 6/1/2024 and then monthly after. My task then ran automatically on 7/1/2024 after 30 days but then also ran again this morning on 7/31/2024 after another 30 days.
There is nothing in the administration guide covering this. Can anyone confirm if this is consistent with what they have found? Is this a bug in how the recurrence is set in the software?
I've modified the schedule so there is a yearly recurrence that starts on the 1st of each month but I'm curious to find out what will happen in 2028 when we have another leap year.
Scheduling Monthly PDM Tasks
Re: Scheduling Monthly PDM Tasks
Is it that critical that the task is run exactly on the 1st of each month? A 30 day interval will not do?
Re: Scheduling Monthly PDM Tasks
It's not hyper critical as it's just a reporting task for each month but the way I have it coded currently (the time period for the report is set as the 1st of the previous month to the last day of the previous month), when it ran on 7/31 a day early instead of 8/1 the report generated was for the month of June instead of July.
I only brought up the issue as my expectation for a monthly recurrence would be for it to run on the same day of each month.

Re: Scheduling Monthly PDM Tasks
It ran on 7-1 then again on 7-31, I'm curious to see if it will run in August at all or be the first of Sept.
I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, but could the start date be set to the second or third day of the month, then if it's a day off it's still in the correct month?
