More Proof of inability to name things
This was in someone's name posting on SywM. I couldn't figure out why he would want to tell everyone on a CAD forum he had a Solidworks certification and sleeping issues.
Re: More Proof of inability to name things
Certified PDM Administrator Professional - Definitely not a great abbreviation.
When I was with the reseller, I think it was:
CPDM - Certified Workgroup PDM
CPDME - Certified Enterprise PDM
There was also an Enterprise PDM Professional certification that included generating the Statement of Work.
I think that "PDM" needs to be in the certification acronym, otherwise you are just creating an acronym of an acronym.
t
ps - They should also double check their acronyms against other known acronyms to avoid this sort of thing.

Google tells me SWYM could also be Shop With Your Mobile, but that would be unlikely as shopping with ones mobile phone is something that would actually be useful.

It's See What You Mean which doesn't make a whole lot of sense, maybe it's a French concept that doesn't translate to English well. Guess they were trying to be hip.
Here's an article, been almost 10 years and the platform hasn't really changed.

Ah you're right. It is See. Makes even less sense to me that way, but it's practically easy compared to some of the product names they've come up with.jcapriotti wrote: ↑Wed Jul 07, 2021 8:02 am It's See What You Mean which doesn't make a whole lot of sense, maybe it's a French concept that doesn't translate to English well. Re: More Proof of inability to name things
Well, I'm not sure they care for customers to "Say" anything, let alone what they mean. On the other hand if you consider that they want you to SEE what they want you to mean then it's not so bad. Perhaps there's a little language translation issue with mean and think? "Say what you think" or "See what you think". I'm pretty sure the spewing of informational chaos is laden with subliminal messages where they are planting thoughts in your head which they feed through eye gate.

Re: More Proof of inability to name things
The acronym madness has completely jumped the shark as it's been combined with made up sales lingo madness. I was looking around for data report writers and started run into the acronym "BI" all over the place. Turns out it stands for "Business Intelligence"...which is a sales lingo made up term for data.mattpeneguy wrote: ↑Wed Jul 07, 2021 12:06 pm Don't post that over at the platform...you may give them an idea to do just that...
So in essence sales people are making up all sorts of words like Business Synergy that eventually needs an acronym...BS.

If it stands for Say What You Mean they're definitely getting that in the feedback. They may be thinking that next time they should be more careful what they ask for.
